Amazon reveals HTC Windows Phone 8X market release date

The HTC Windows Phone 8X was announced at an HTC event last Wednesday, and now we have a date when you can expect to get your hands on one.

Amazon UK has the SIM-free variant up for pre-order, with an expected shipping date of November 8th. It can be had for the rather steep price of £531.43, or $863.
While this price – and the release date, for that matter – is not exactly official, a retailer as big as Amazon can't be far from the truth. Either way, we won't be seeing any Windows Phone 8 phones on the market until Microsoft officially releases the platform, expected in late October.
Meanwhile, Clove UK also have the 8X for a more reasonable £399 ($648). If you'd like to learn more about the HTC Windows Phone 8X, check out our hands on from the release event

WP8-powered HTC Windows Phone 8X goes official

HTC's event is underway and we just got to see the company's first two Windows Phone 8 handsets, with the HTC Windows Phone 8X being the flagship.
Unlike the Titan, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is rather compact with its 4.3" 720p screen. It measures 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1mm and weighs 130g. The HTC Windows Phone 8X (now that's a mouthful) uses a polycarbonate unibody, similar to that of the One X.

Going back to the screen, it's a Super LCD 2 unit with Gorilla Glass 2 protection and it's laminated to reduce glare.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with two Krait cores clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 225 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It runs Microsoft's latest phone OS, Windows Phone 8 (as the name quite clearly indicates).
The camera on the back should be familiar to HTC users - 8MP BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 28mm field of view (in 35mm terms). It contains a dedicated HTC ImageChip and can shoot 1080p video with stereo sound.

Nokia may file a lawsuit seeking a ban on HTC WP 8X

According to the latest online gossip, Nokia considers seeking ban for the upcoming HTC flagship –Windows Phone 8X. The Finns accuse HTC of copying the Lumia 820 front panel design for its Windows Phone 8X.
Nokia unveiled the Lumia 820 and 920 in the beginning of September. HTC announced its two WP-powered headsets two weeks later. Shortly after Nokia’s EVP of Sales and Marketing tweeted "It takes more than matching color to match the innovation of the Lumia 920." – aimed directly at HTC’s new phones.

The source says that Nokia is going to take serious actions against HTC and seek a ban on the Windows Phone 8 sales.
No matter what Nokia’s intentions are, both Nokia and HTC have huge support from Microsoft (and Qualcomm), and we bet the issue will be resolved without entering the court room. And even if it did, we doubt Nokia will end up victorious – it takes way more than two weeks to develop a smartphone and there's no way HTC managed to redesign the 8X in the short time between the Lumia 820 announcement and its own event.posted by 74news
