Bollywood Walk of Fame: 'Names out next month'

walkoffame.jpgBy 74news
Mumbai, Nov. 25 -- Come next month, and a Bollywood channel will announce the final list of top actors whose hand impressions will be placed at the first Bollywood Walk Of Fame to be constructed at Bandstand, Bandra. Once the first set of names is picked, the promenade's beautification will begin early next year.
"It will be an on-going exercise. It won't have a finite ending like a TV show. Bollywood is known to be the second largest film industry in the world. Fortunes change every Friday. So, we will continue adding names to our list," says Nikhil Gandhi, business head, UTV Stars, stating that the channel will start off with 60 top celebrities of all time. "For now, we are looking at everyone who has made a difference to the industry from Pran saab and Dilip Kumar to Dev Anand, Vyjyanthimala, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. We're pretty confident that they will be happy to participate."
The idea comes from Sid Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in Los Angeles. The first iconic American location showcases hand impressions of Hollywood actors on the pavement, while the other has names of the celebrities written in cemented 'stars' on the sidewalk.
In Bollywood's Walk Of Fame, each star's hand impression will be taken on a tile and placed along the promenade in designated spots. "The residents' associations are with us on this plan. They are happy that the locality will become a hotter tourist spot. Plus it adds to the city's beautification too," beams Gandhi, adding, "But unlike various other tourist places, we won't have tickets for this. It's open to anyone who wants to take a walk there."

Gyarah Chalis Ki Last Metro’: The first movie to shoot inside Qutub Minar?

vivek oberoiThough ‘Gyarah Chalis Ki Last Local’ did not rake moolah at the box office, Abhay Deol’s performance in the same did get critical accolades. However, the makers have replaced Vivek Oberoi with Abhay in their next which is titled ‘Gyarah Chalis Ki Last Metro’. Unlike the original, this one will be shot in Delhi and guesses are on as to who will be the female lead in the flick. Rumours are rife that either Jacqueline or Bipasha will be cast for the role.
The makers are keen to reflect all the flavours of Delhi in the flick, so much so that they have decided to shoot one of the crucial scenes of the movie inside Qutub Minar. If everything falls in place, Amit Chandrra will have the credit of making the first ever film to ever capture the beautiful monument. Amit is in talks with higher authorities in Delhi as they plan to open gates to Qutub Minar.

Sonakshi Sinha goes red for FHM

There is no denying the fact that Sonakshi Sinha is perhaps the most beautiful and promising newcomer in our tinsel town. In her debut flick, she was seen in a village girl avatar wearing a saree. In all her forthcoming flicks like ‘Joker’, ‘Dabangg 2’ and ‘Lootera’ also she will be draping a saree. However, she puts on a glamorous western avatar in her photo shoot for the 4th anniversary of men’s fashion magazine FHM in Mumbai.
She opted for a red hot dress at the event for the unveiling of the issue. “I think it is good to look different in every photo shoot or a film. I think all my filmmakers are making me wear saris so I think it’s good that in photo shoots I am seen in western outfits. As an actor, this change is also important. I try and mix it up,” Sonakshi said at the unveiling of the FHM magazine cover.
“I am very proud of my ‘desiness’ and I would have to agree for now because those are the type of roles that I have been doing. Later on, there will be a lot of scope for change,” she added.

Heroine will be a landmark in Kareena's career

By 74news

Madhur Bhandarkar's ambitious project Heroine is back on track with Kareena Kapoor stepping into the shoes of actress Aishwarya Rai as the lead actor and the filmmaker says the movie will be a landmark movie in Bebo's career.

"She (Kareena) is a great star. We have always talked about working together and even discussed a lot of films but nothing Kareenamaterialized. But Heroine is a great script and a great story. I am sure it will be a landmark cinema in Kareena's career," said Bhandarkar at the red carpet of Airtel Super Star Awards.

Bhandarkar's film hit a roadblock after Aishwarya opted out of the project following her pregnancy. Ash gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday.

The filmmaker hopes the film doesn't get into any other problem.

"Heroine is basically a journey in a heroine's life in the contemporary world. It's going to portray how an actress reaches the top and how her life goes through ups and downs. There are lot of catharsis and traumas shown in the film," said Bhandarkar, known for making films like Page 3, Fashion and Traffic Signal.

"Right now, the film is on track and shooting will start November end and we will finish by March-April. Hope you all like it," he added.

Big B spends happy time with granddaughter

Grandfather Amitabh Bachchan is having a nice time with his newly born grand-daughter as he wrote on the blog about how his life lit up with the new member of the family.

A wave of happiness is passing through the Bachchan family as after months of speculations, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday morning at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai.

Hospital authorities informed that Ash had a normal delivery that took place around 10 am on Wednesday.

''The soft innocence of nature rests in my arms, oblivious of what else happens around her. Occasionally she opens her large and what looks now to be eyes of the lighter hue, which those that have dealt with similar, know shall change with time,'' Big B blogged.

''Often the gentlest of smiles quiver across her pouted upper lip, the shut eyes bringing expression through the brows and the settling down to that dream she must dream. Her head covered in the littlest of head gear she will ever adorn, snuggles into her mini quilt of varied colors dominated by the pink softness of its material,'' he described.

A nostalgic Big wrote about his feelings of touching his son Abhishek Bachchan in his blog: ''As I look down upon her I bring myself back to the visual when I had placed her Father in just condition into my Father's hands, to be heralded into our home. I stare at her in silence. She reciprocates in similar vein.''

''Dad! I hold the 9th Bachchan in my hands... this family that you started .. !!Amitabh, Ajitabh, Shweta, Nilima, Namrata, Abhishek, Naina, Bhim and now .. this beauty, unnamed so far ... I hope you and Ma look upon us from above and bless us and your latest addition. To carry forward what then may have seemed a somewhat limited expectation. The tradition continues and may it prosper by your love and your aashirvaad (blessings),'' he wrote.

Ranbir Kapoor: I'll make films like Grandpa!

ranbirkapoor1.png
NEW DELHI, Oct. 17 -- Ranbir Kapoor admits he's always aspired to direct a movie, and says it's not going to take him a decade to live his dream.

"Right now, I'm caught up with my acting career, but in two-three years, I hope to direct a film for the family banner. I've been toying with a few ideas and am waiting for a story to come around," says the 29-year-old actor. He says that many filmmakers, including Imtiaz Ali, who's directed Rockstar, have told him he'll be a good director.
"But these are cushioned compliments till you can put the words into action. I hope I'll get the opportunity soon to make a movie that says something about what I believe in." His grandfather, Raj Kapoor, had started out as an actor at the age of 11.
After 13 years, he set up his own studio and launched Aag under RK Films, becoming Bollywood's youngest director at 24. "RK Films was what it was because of the work my grandfather did. I, too, would like to produce, direct and act in good movies made under it. It's one thing to live on someone else's laurels and another to carry the legacy forward," says the actor, who assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black (2005) before debuting as an actor in his film Saawariya.

My films are competing with each other: Kareena

kareenakapoor1.jpgWith RA.One touted to cross the 100-crore mark at the box office as it releases this Diwali, Kareena Kapoor is staring at her fourth film to achieve such a feat and the actor says it is great that her films are competing with each other.
Her earlier films 3 Idiots, Golmaal 3 and Bodyguard grossed more than Rs 100 crores and RA.One might become Kareena's fourth film to break the box office record, making her the only actor in the history of Indian cinema to achieve this feat.
"It is a wonderful stint to be a part of. To have such great successes like 3 Idiots, Golmaal 3 and Bodyguard with Aamir, Ajay and Salman is a wonderful thing. Now with Shahrukh, I am looking forward to RA.One.
"I keep hearing all such fantabulous box office figures every now and then. If RA.One indeed manages to do as well as predicted, then nothing better than that. My films are competing with my own films and that is a great feeling," Kareena told PTI.
Bodyguard netted over 100 crores in it's extended first week and RA.One may break the record with a much bigger release on the extended weekend of Diwali.
With such commercial successes in her kitty, Kareena, 31, is well aware of the number game in Bollywood and says the commercial viability of a star is important.
"In this industry you are as good as your last film. Eventually it is all about the commercial viability of the stars. Bollywood is about entertainment; this is what sells here and we can't change that. In fact we must not try to change that and balance it all."
"I may try to please everyone but at the end of it all, basically I have to entertain my fans. I can never forget that basic aspect of my journey as an actress," Kareena said.
It was this thought that made her sign a film like Bodyguard where she knew that the focus would be on co-star Salman Khan.
"Bodyguard is the only film in my career where I knew that it would be an instant blockbuster on it's release. Yes there was Salman in it, which is a huge factor, but ultimately I believed in the power of the script."
"Regardless of what is sold about the movie, ultimately there has to be something in it that clicks with the audience, else it won't work. Bodyguard had a superb story and some fantastic twists that added to the film's appeal. Otherwise, as a brand, the film wouldn't have been successful in all languages," she said.
Talking about language, Kareena seems to be having some fun time in RA. One, what with her on-screen son reprimanding her for mouthing words that sound like abuses.

RaOne: Rs 100 Crore in a week!

raoneposter.jpgMumbai, Oct. 21 -- If trade talk is anything to go by, RA.One will only need the six-day Diwali weekend, starting October 26, to recover R 100 crore, the remainder of the film's estimated R 150 crore budget. Reportedly, producers Gauri Khan (lead actor Shah Rukh Khan's wife) and Eros have already made R 50 crore through TV rights in India (R 35 crore), home video and music rights among others.
Tradesmith Amod Mehra believes that with RA.One raking in the moolah, the never-ending Salman-SRK war will heat up again at the box office, and should, in turn, generate great business for Hindi film trade in India. "RA.One can easily surge ahead of Bodyguard, which is the year's biggest money maker so far. As of now, it looks like R 100 crore will be recovered in the first week itself, because the film opens in several countries on the same day and SRK is a popular figure in a lot of places where Hindi isn't even understood," he adds.
Typically, the earnings from any movie are divided into three or four parts. A portion, about 45 per cent, is paid as tax. The remainder is divided between distributors, exhibitors, and at times, producers who claim a share in the "overflow". According to Sunil Punjabi, CEO of Cinemax, a chain of multiplexes, RA.One's business can even beat that of Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, two years ago. He notes that there have already been several block bookings for RA.One, days before release. Parents and schools have been asking for special shows around Children's Day, which is still a couple of weeks away. Ticket prices have escalated, and the number of seats and shows available has also increased, since it's the only biggie releasing next week.
"One of the biggest advantages is that it's in 3D, which allows exhibitors to sell tickets at a slightly higher cost. Diwali holidays have extended up to Monday in several states," he explains, adding that the collections could beat those of 3 Idiots if it stays in cinema halls for over four weeks. "Several top networks are vying for the international TV rights too. So, there's no stopping the estimated collections, unless something seriously goes wrong." Sanjay Ghai, Delhi-based distributor, accredits the prerelease buzz and heightened trade expectations to SRK, who returns to cinemas after My Name Is Khan in 2010. He says, "Shah Rukh's not left any means to promote his movie untouched. As a distributor, I can vouch that it'll make R 300 crore in exactly three weeks and two days of running in cinema halls. That should increase expectations from Don 2 and other biggies that will release after RA.One."

I am extremely exhausted: Shah Rukh Khan

New Delhi: The eight-city tour to promote his dream project RA.One has left Shah Rukh Khan tired and exhausted, but the emotional bond with the film and reaching out to his fans is keeping the superstar alive, energetic and kicking.
"I am extremely exhausted and tired. It is because I am not just promoting the film, I am also doing the post production of RA.One at the same time. Even though I have private planes to travel and five star hotels to stay in but I have been working round the clock," Shah Rukh told reporters here Thursday.
The 45-year-old actor was in the capital to facilitate real heroes of Delhi, who in their own way have selflessly contributed to the city to make it a better and safer place to live in.
IBNLive
Though the star arrived an hour late at the unusual venue - Shivaji Stadium Airport Metro station, the enthusiasm and screams from the crowd, a Chamak Challo jig by the superstar lit the boring grey and white structured walls of the station with colours of joy and happiness.
Wearing a pair of jeans, a black T-shirt and a red stole around his neck, his hair was neatly tied in a ponytail and though his eyes looked tired, his body and energetic gestures overcame all that.
This mega-budget film is taking Shah Rukh to cities he has never visited before, and very modestly the actor says all his promotional activities are targeted to inform the audience about this film.
"I am a small time actor who is struggling to make his audience like his movie. People don't know what they want till they see the film. So the idea of this activity is to inform people that there is a superhero film, so by the time they go to the cinema halls to watch the film, they are already aware what it is all about," he said.
"The film comes straight from my heart and I believe in it. I have made this film because I wanted to, so why should I be scared of the outcome. In 20 years, you have given me status where I can think of spending money," he added.
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film also has Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in the lead role. It is set for a Diwali release.

Kareena to attend Dubai premiere of 'RA.One'

Dubai: Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor are all set to visit Dubai for the world premiere of their film 'RA.One' on October 24. Shah Rukh will walk the red carpet at Grand Cinemas, Wafi, along with co-stars Kareena and Arjun Rampal for the movie which has been touted as the most expensive film to come out of Bollywood.
Instead of limiting the film's premiere to sponsors, corporates and members of the media, tickets for the superhero flick's screenings will be on sale to the public, organizers said.
'RA.One' will be shown simultaneously across three screens, with the stars making an appearance in all the showings. Following the screenings, the stars will head to a charity dinner with the who's who of Dubai, where a special skit put together by the actors will be staged, followed by a charity auction.

Deepika Padukone’s prem kahani on sliver screen!
Deepika Padukone’s love story with Nihar Pandya, apparently her first guy, will now make it to the sliver screen. The film will be directed by Prashant Chadda. And guess who’s the actor?? Well, it’s none other than Nihar Pandya himself.
Director Chadda said, “Nihar is like my brother. I was very close to Deepika as well once upon a time. In fact, I had launched her in a music video. Everybody knows how she walked out of Nihar’s life for Ranbir. Nihar was heartbroken. He had done everything by the book. He looked after her for three-and-a-half-years. In fact Deepika stayed in Nihar’s house with his parents for three years.”
It all started back in 2005, in an acting institution where Deepika and Nihar fell in love. Deepy always maintained the “just friends” tag. However, things were crystal clear when Nihar threw a lavish party for DP on her birthday.
Things were going great between the couple until Ranbir Kapoor made his entry.
“Nobody knows that Deepika actually came crying back to Nihar after breaking up with Ranbir the first time. Nihar went looking for Ranbir, intercepted his car and asked him what he was doing with Deepika. Ranbir shot back, ‘Ask your girlfriend that’. Even after all this, Nihar took Deepika back. And then the same thing happened with Yuvraaj Singh,”claimed Chaddha.
Though the story is facing opposition from certain quarters, yet Chaddha is adamant on making the film. “I owe it to Nihar.” concluded the filmmaker .
